All components in your car must have a lifespan. This usage age is a kind of time limit for the optimal use of a component. Some components in your car's air conditioner also have an age limit.
For example, a car air conditioner compressor actually has a lifespan of about 5 years with normal use.
However, there are small things that if underestimated can make the AC compressor break down quickly.
The small thing is the cooler thermistor component which is located close to the AC evaporator.
As quoted from GridOto.com, "The AC thermistor has the task of resting the compressor so that it does not work continuously," said Supri from Sedudo AC specialist workshop, Pondok Pinang, South Jakarta.
So, when the temperature in the evaporator chamber has reached a certain temperature, the thermistor cuts off the electric current of the car air conditioner compressor.
"Later, when the temperature in the evaporator starts to rise, the thermostat turns on the compressor's electric current again so that the cabin is cool again," he explained.
But if this component breaks down, the air conditioner compressor becomes relentlessly hard work.
"Especially at high revolutions, the AC compressor also rotates fast, even though the compressor at high revolutions should be deactivated by the thermistor," explained this friendly man.
This is what makes the car air conditioner compressor have a shorter lifespan.
Another effect that can result from the compressor running continuously is the evaporator becoming frozen.
This is because the compressor is constantly working to release cold air without stopping.
"If the evaporator is frozen, the car air conditioner will be less cold because the circulation is hampered," explained Supri.
In addition, the AC blower is also not optimal due to the frozen evaporator.
If this is the case, you should take your car to a trusted AC repair shop to have the thermistor component repaired and replaced.
