It has been confirmed that PT Kreta Indo Artha (KIA) plans to assemble KIA's new car in Indonesia.
In fact, as quoted from GridOto.com, According to Ario Soerjo, as KIA's Marketing & Development Division Head, it has communicated with the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin).
"It has been submitted (to the Ministry of Industry) for a long time, but there is a process, step by stepSo, let's just wait," said Ario in BSD, South Tangerang, Wednesday (12/10/2022).
Ario added that product localization will have many positive impacts from several sides.
"We want it as soon as possible because there are more and more assemblingthe better the brand, the better support we make for the government, open up jobs, open up new supply chains, basically benefits-There are many things," Ario said.
However, he is still reluctant to confirm when KIA will start assembling locally.
The same applies to products that will be assembled in Indonesia.
"Just wait. This year or next year? Just wait," he explained.
Furthermore, Ario said that his party has prepared a number of locations to be used as KIA assembly sites.
The location, said Ario, is an Indomobil Group asset that has previously been used by several brands.
"There are many Indomobil facilities, you just need to use them, in Pulogadung, Cikampek," Ario explained.
"The former Nissan (factory) is empty, in Pulogadung the former Renault is also empty, we just have to adjust which one is the most possible," he concluded.
