After a long wait, PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) has finally announced the selling price of the All New Yaris Cross in the country.
The price offered for this Compact Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) is not far off the mark, with the cheapest variant priced at Rp 351 million on the road (OTR) DKI Jakarta.
Meanwhile, the highest variant, the Toyota All New Yaris Cross 1.5 S HV CVT GR Parts Aero Package, is priced at IDR 449.95 million OTR DKI Jakarta.
As quoted from GridOto.com, TAM Vice President Director, Henry Tanoto, also confirmed that the All New Yaris Cross for sale has been locally produced in Indonesia.
"After thelaunching All-New Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid EV as Toyota's first locally produced electrified vehicle, Toyota presents All-New Yaris Cross as the next full Hybrid EV by the nation's children," Henry said in a TAM official release, Tuesday (13/6/2023).
"As a pioneer in the B-segment with a large market share, this SUV provides an opportunity for a wider range of customers to own an environmentally friendly vehicle at an increasingly affordable price," he added.
The Toyota All-New Yaris Cross is offered in six variants, with a choice of 4-cylinder 1,500 cc DOHC Dual-VVT-i gasoline (2NR-VE) and hybrid (2NR-VEX) engines.
The 2NR-VE gasoline engine produces 106 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque, combined with a choice of 5-speed manual or CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) type automatic transmission.
As for the variant with the engine coded 2NR-VEX, it is an engine atkinson cycle which is equipped with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery.
The gasoline engine produces 89.8 horsepower and 121 Nm of torque, while the electric motor produces 79 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque.
Controlled by Toyota Hybrid System (THS), this race kitchen is equipped with EV Mode and CVT transmission that synergizes with the electric motor to drive the front axle in the most efficient and least polluting power delivery without compromising on performance.
Moving on to the specifications, the latest rivals to the Honda HR-V and Hyundai Creta are built using the Daihatsu New Global Architecture platform for segment B (DNGA-B).
Dimensionally, the Toyota All New Yaris Cross measures 4,310 mm in length, 1,770 mm in width, 1,615 mm in height, 2,620 mm in wheelbase and 260 mm in ground clearance.
That said, the platform made by Daihatsu is also used by the third generation Toyota Avanza, Veloz and Daihatsu Xenia (W100/W150).
"Yaris Cross brings the concept of Solid & Dynamic, capitalizing on the outstanding appearance typical of modern Toyota SUVs combined with a compact cabin that maximizes interior volume," said Anton Jimmi Suwandy, Marketing Director of TAM.
"The exterior features a voluminous body with distinctive character lines expressing a solid and tough appearance," he added on the same occasion.
In terms of features, all variants of Toyota All New Yaris Cross are equipped with Electric Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Brake Hold, 6-airbags, ABS+EBD+BA brakes and Parking Sensor.
Likewise with Emergency Stop Signal, Hill Start Assist (HSA), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), to the Light Fire Extinguishers (APAR) inside glove box.
Then the Panoramic View Monitor is also presented to provide convenience when maneuvering parking in limited areas.
"The desire to present ever-better cars is realized in up-to-date and advanced packaging, as well as a complete selection of variants and competitive prices," Anton concluded.
