Recently, PT Daimler Commercial Vehicles Indonesia (DCVI) admitted that it is enthusiastically waiting for electric bus incentives from the government.
As quoted from GridOto.com, According to DCVI President Director Naeem Hassim, incentivizing electric buses will go a long way in supporting market growth.
"Yes, of course the electric bus incentive is good news. But we don't know what form the incentives will take," said Naeem on the sidelines of the DCVI TechMasters and Truck SalesMasters competitions.
Naeem said, as a brand holder agent (APM), his party certainly needs details of these incentives to determine steps.
Hence, DCVI is in constant communication to get the details of the incentives.
"We through GAIKINDO have communicated with the government, to ask for the details of the incentives," he said.
"We know the government is reportedly working on the regulations, but we are very enthusiastic about this incentive," he added.
If the details of the incentives are officially published by the government, Naeem said his party will immediately communicate with their principals in Germany.
"We will also study the benefits to bus operators, APMs and the Indonesian automotive industry," he said.
Previously, the Indonesian Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, had stated that the purchase of electric buses would be incentivized.
"We make sure electric buses get incentives. The average per-unit price of electric buses is around Rp 1.3 billion, then asked how much the incentive is, we have not yet determined it," Agus Gumiwang was quoted as saying by Tribunnews.com, Tuesday (27/12/2022).
He explained that the addition of electric buses to the list of candidates for incentives for purchasing electric vehicles was the result of studies from several countries.
"We also take this policy based on benchmarks from several countries that are more advanced in the use of electric vehicles," he explained.
"We are studying why (a) country has a very high electric car population. We are studying the amount of incentives for electric buses," said Agus.
