Vettel and Hamilton protest over F1 dress code changes

Recently, two senior F1 drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel, took a unique action to protest the dress code changes implemented by the FIA in F1 Miami 2022.

This rule change has been announced by Race Director, Niels Wittich, since the Australian series a few weeks ago, and began to be strictly applied in F1 Miami 2022 this weekend.

There are adjustments to clothing specifications from shoes to underwear for the drivers and some crew members, as well as some restrictions on wearing accessories such as piercings, bracelets, necklaces and watches.

The FIA reasoned that excessive accessories would interfere with drivers' freedom on the track, for example when removing helmets or racing clothes.

This decision invited a lot of reactions because it was considered useless and unreasonable to implement in F1.

Sebastian Vettel's action is quite crazy.

Some time ago, Vettel had walked on the pit lane by wearing underwear outside racing suit-her.

In addition, as the most fashionable on the grid, Hamilton certainly gave a strong reaction.

"I think it's a setback, if you talk about steps in terms of sport," Hamilton said at a press conference session in front of journalists at F1 Miami 2022, reported from F1i.

"And we should focus more on other more important issues and really push it to be better," he explains.

Uniquely in this session, Hamilton deliberately wore many accessories on his body as satire.

If you count carefully, Hamilton had to wear 8 rings, 4 necklaces, 3 watches, and 2 piercings in front of reporters. "I think we are progressing in terms of sport. Now we're in Miami and it's actually a very small thing. I've been here 16 years and wearing jewelry for 16 years," he continued.

"In the car, I only wear piercings in my ears and nose, because I can't easily take them off, so it's really not important," she said.
