Understand the Rules Related to Motorcycles that Must Test Emissions

You may have noticed that many motorcyclists have been struggling to find emission test centers lately. Don't worry, it turns out that not all motorcycles are required to participate and pass an emission test or risk getting a ticket on the road.

Although many motorcycle users are excited and flocking to find emission test locations, you still need to understand the rules to avoid getting caught. If you check further, the motorcycles that must participate and pass the emission test are regulated.

"Referring to Pergub Number 66 of 2020, those who are required to follow and meet the emission test threshold apply to motorcycles aged three years and above," explained Yusiono, Head of the Environmental Impact Control Division, from the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency.

So for motorcycles under three years old, the rule is not mandatory, but you are still welcome if you really want to take an emission test.

The question is, why is the emission test only applied to vehicles that are over three years old?

"Because we consider cars or motorcycles under three years old are still within the manufacturer's warranty period, generally the condition of the vehicle is also still maintained," he answered.

For now, the regulation only applies to vehicles such as cars and motorcycles that are used to pass through the capital area.

It can be said that the regulation is mandatory for vehicles with DKI Jakarta registration or outside the region that pass through Jakarta.

So if your motorcycle is not used to travel on roads in Jakarta, an emission test is not required.

The point is that if your vehicle is over three years old and operating in the capital region, it must take the test and pass the emission test. Okay, so now you should understand that if your motorcycle is under three years old, there is no need for an emission test.
