The Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, said that Central Java is the largest homecoming destination during the 2023 Lebaran holiday period.
In detail, the number of people who will go home for Lebaran 2023 to Central Java reaches 32.75 million people.
This figure is equal to 26.45 percent of the estimated total number of travelers this year, which is around 123.8 million people.
After Central Java, East Java is the second largest destination for travelers, reaching 24.60 million people.
Then followed by West Java with 20.72 million people, Jabodetabek with 8.07 million people, and Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) with 5.9 million people.
"And from this condition we see that the Trans-Java Toll Road has the most users, 33 percent. So out of 123 million travelers, it's quite a lot, so we have to concentrate there," Budi Karya Sumadi said, as quoted by Indonesia Window. Kompas.com.
Budi explained that private car users will dominate the 2023 Lebaran homecoming flow with 27.32 million travelers.
In second place are motorcycle users with 25.13 million people, followed by buses with 22.77 million people, trains with 14.47 million people, and rental cars with 9.53 million people.
As a measure to overcome traffic congestion on the homecoming route, engineering such as one way and contra flow have been provided by the government.
"We will also think about even-odd, later at the end, a week before we determine whether it needs to be determined or not," Budi said.
Then to reduce the accumulation of vehicles at density points such as rest areas, the government also added rest area facilities and field officers at CIpali Toll Road.
Then in terms of technology, the government will use technology that has been developed so that travelers can arrange their departure schedules.
