In the midst of the rampant negative news that often makes us lazy to see or watch the news, there is good news. There is an achievement that can make Indonesia proud. The Arjuna electric car team of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM)) again made achievements in international competitions. This time, the UGM Arjuna electric car team competed in the 5th Annual Formula Student Electric Vehicle Concept Challenge (FSEV 2021) held in India.
Even better, they managed to buy three titles at once in the competition which was held online from July 30 to August 4, 2021.
The Arjuna UGM electric car team won three titles, including Best Battery Design, 3rd Place Team Management Report, and finalist in the Software and Intelligence Integration category.
In their quest to earn all three titles, the group of young people from the university in Yogyakarta had to compete with 31 other teams from India, Turkey and Indonesia.
Muhammad Raihan Hilmy, team leader of Arjuna UGM electric car in the competition, said that this achievement was a recognition of their hard work.
"We also gained a lot of experience and feedback from this competition," said Raihan. "So that we can finalize the preparation of the team and the design concept of the car that will be made for next year," he added.
For additional information, FSEV 2021 is not a student electric car competition that the Arjuna team usually participates in.. They usually perform at the Japan Formula Society Automotive Engineer (FSAE) held in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan every year. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused the competition to close its doors to overseas participants, and only national participants in Japan are allowed to participate.
Despite not being able to compete in FSAE Japan for two consecutive years, the team sponsored by various companies including PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) remains excited and motivated to continue learning and innovating. "This proves that the young generation of Indonesia is able to participate in the civilization of the world's electric car development," said the 9th generation leader of the Arjuna UGM team, Inherenta Muhammad Amarutsli.
This is reflected in their vision, which is to become the best research-based electric car team in Asia as a form of contribution to the development of electric cars in Indonesia and actively evaluate to make improvements in the development of electric cars in the next generation. Hopefully, the noble ideals of the nation's successors can be realized in the future.
