SIM Makin Sakti, Now Can Be Used as a Cashless Payment Tool!

'You already know that now the driver's license has an appendage' "smart"? Therefore, a driver's license is not only valid as an identity and proof that we are allowed to drive a motor vehicle on the road. One of the "powers" of this card that we should take advantage of is its ability to be used as a cashless payment card.

Since it was first launched in September 2019, Smart SIM is claimed to function as electronic money that can be used for shopping, paying tolls and ticket fines. This sophisticated function can be done by Smart SIM because of the chip that has been embedded in it.

"When we test it in September 2019, 500 SIMs can already be used as electronic payment instruments," explained the Head of Driver Standards Section of Ditregident Korlantas Polri, AKBP Arief Budiman.

In order to function as a cashless transaction tool, your Smart SIM must first be activated through a bank that has partnered with Polri. In this case, BNI is the bank we are referring to. If not activated, your Smart SIM will not be able to be used as a non-cash payment tool, it will only be valid as a regular driver's license. Later, the Smart SIM card can be filled with a balance of up to Rp 2 million.

"For non-cash payment tools, the permit is from Bank Indonesia (BI), if the system of Korlantas & BNI has been ready since 2019," said Arief Budiman.

The addition of functions and features to SMART SIM aims to provide added value and effectiveness for the National Police. The hope is that SMART SIM can facilitate members of the National Police, especially the Korlantas, in improving security, safety and order for the community.

Furthermore, with the additional features and functions available on the SMART SIM, cardholders will also feel more comfortable, secure, and facilitated. However, we recommend that those of you who often forget and lose your cashless payment card, do not make your SIM a cashless payment tool. You might end up losing your driver's license instead of your wallet.
