Long Only a Test Rider, Dani Pedrosa is Ready to Race Again in MotoGP

There's some pretty good news for Dani Pedrosa fans. The man who is arguably very credited for the many achievements that the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team can achieve will appear again in the 2021 Styria MotoGP event with "Wildcard" status.

FYI, this Spanish racer chose to retire at the end of 2018 when he was 33 years old. However, long before retiring, Pedrosa had won several titles, namely the world titles in GP125 (2003) and GP250 (2004 and 2005). In the highest caste of motorcycle racing, Dani Pedrosa has never won a world title, but he is a fairly accomplished racer with Honda Repsol. After retiring, "The Little Samurai" joined KTM as a test rider.

Dani Pedrosa immediately became an important pawn in the development of the RC16, to successfully make KTM riders reach the podium. This was proven in MotoGP 2020, when KTM won 8 podiums and 3 wins. In fact, in the first half of MotoGP 2021, KTM has also pocketed 3 podiums and 1 victory. Dani Pedrosa admits that being part of the KTM project in MotoGP is interesting and can add to the experience. "Step by step we are doing the best we can. And I will return to racing to give a different perspective compared to normal tests," said Pedrosa.

He explained that the mentality of racing a bike on a circuit during a race is obviously different than during a testing session. As such, Pedrosa can better understand the demands of the riders. rider KTM on the development of the bike's technical features for various sessions and situations.
