PT Jasa Marga (Persero) announced that it has completed the widening of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road lanes, as well as held open traffic ahead of the 2023 Lebaran homecoming period.
The widening of this lane is at Km 50 to KM 66 towards Cikampek or after the MBZ Elevated Toll Road, from the original three to four lanes.
Likewise for the reverse direction or towards Jakarta, where the addition of one lane is at KM 61 to KM 50.
As quoted from GridOto.com, Jasa Marga President Director, Subakti Syukur, hopes that the increased lane capacity can be a solution to reduce traffic congestion.
Especially in the homecoming and return flows of Lebaran 2023, it is predicted that there will be a surge in the volume of vehicles passing through the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road.
"Currently, users of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road can feel the benefits of adding one lane capacity in both directions to the maximum," Subakti said through Jasa Marga's official statement, Monday (10/4/2023).
Not only the road section, Subakti also said that the widening of four bridges at Km 50, KM 57 and KM 62 on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road was also successfully completed during the Lebaran 2023 homecoming.
"The widening of one lane on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road is one of the solutions to reduce the density that has the potential to occur at KM 48 towards Cikampek, which is a meeting of traffic from the MBZ Elevated Road and the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road," added Subakti.
"Likewise Dawuan Km 66 towards Jakarta which is a meeting of traffic from the Trans Java Toll Road and the Cipularang Toll Road," he concluded.
The same thing was also expressed by the Minister of Transportation (Menhub), Budi Karya Sumadi, hoping that the widening of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road could break the density that often occurs at Km 66.
"We are currently reviewing the widening of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, precisely at KM 61 to KM 50 towards Jakarta, which is expected to unravel the buildup of vehicles returning from Central and East Java as well as those from Bandung and surrounding areas," he added.
"Not only in the direction of Jakarta, this toll road widening is also carried out in the reverse direction so that it can support the flow of homecoming and return more optimally," explained the Minister of Transportation.
Jasa Marga also urges people who will travel to and from Lebaran 2023 through toll roads to ensure travel readiness.
Among them are fulfilling travel requirements, ensuring the condition of the driver and vehicle is in prime condition and roadworthy, preparing supplies, ensuring adequate fuel and electronic money balances.
Avoid traveling on dates that are predicted to be the peak of homecoming and return flows, and avoid traveling at favorite times, such as after dawn or breaking the fast.
Obey the signs and directions of officers in the field and always be disciplined in the provisions of driving on toll roads, then use time wisely by not lingering in the rest area and always implementing health protocols.
