Korlantas Polri Claims the Number of Mudik Flow Accidents Has Decreased

There is good news for all of us. The number of mudik accidents in Lebaran 2022 has decreased by 31 percent.

This statement was made by the Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas), Inspector General Firman Shantyabudi.

Although, there are quite a lot of people going home, according to Inspector General Firman, the number of accidents in the 2022 ketupat operation has decreased 31%.

That is, when compared to the 2019 Lebaran homecoming and return season in the period before the Covid-19 pandemic. 

"Fatalities are also decreasing, this is what we hope for smooth operations to be able to meet, accidents are down, fatalities are also down," he said, Monday (9/5/2022).

When viewed from the Integrated Road Safety Management System (IRSMS) data source, the number of crashes on May 8, 2022 at 22:00 WIB has occurred 267 crashes where 29 died, 39 were seriously injured and 280 were slightly injured.

Previously, Transportation observer, Djoko Setijowarno said the number of traffic accidents in the Lebaran homecoming season this year had decreased compared to the 2019 homecoming season.

We should be grateful that from April 25, 2022 to May 5, 2022, there were 4,107 traffic accidents with 568 fatalities.

Meanwhile, in the same period in 2019, 4,083 traffic accidents were recorded with 824 people killed. "This means that the number of traffic accident cases decreased by 28 percent. Cases of citizens who died decreased by 49 percent," said Djoko.
