
In an unfortunate turn of events, Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya announced that the Street Race event in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta will be postponed to Friday, January 27, 2023.
This was conveyed directly by the Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Latif Usman.
"Street Race racing in Kemayoran will start on January 27, 2023," Latif was quoted as saying. GridOto.com, Tuesday (10/1/2023).
Previously, the fifth Street Race series was to be held on January 15, 2023.
Latif hopes that this Street Race activity can be utilized by people who often carry out illegal racing actions on the highway to channel their hobbies and talents in this Street Race event.
Contacted separately, the Street Race committee, Iptu Yoga, said that the activity was delayed because they were still waiting for a venue permit.
"While still waiting for permission from the Kemayoran Complex Management Center (PPKK) first," he said.
Regarding the schedule and location, it seems that the meeting is still under discussion.
"Regarding registration, it has not (opened) yet," he said.
The racing event facilitated by Polda Metro Jaya first took place in Ancol on January 16, 2022 and was attended by 350 participants.
The official street race was initiated by Polda Metro Jaya to suppress illegal racing that is often carried out on the highway.
After the street race in Ancol, the police held a similar activity in the BSD area, Tangerang on April 22 to 24, 2022.
The activity then continued and was held again in the Meikarta area, Bekasi on June 18 and 19, 2022, and on September 3 and 4, 2022 in Kemayoran.
