Electric Vehicles Supporting MSMEs Launch in Yogyakarta

Recently, an electric vehicle officially hit the road in Yogyakarta, the Electric Cart (Gelis).) received full support from the City Government (Pemkot). The news was delivered directly by the Deputy Mayor of YogyakartaHeroe Poerwadi during a test drive on Thursday (26/08).

Heroe Poerwadi explained that the Yogya City Government fully supports Gelis, which is based on a three-wheeled motorcycle, because it is environmentally friendly. "Gelis can help us to realize environmentally friendly transportation in Yogyakarta," said Heroe Poerwadi.

According to Heroe, the presence of electric motors in Yogyakarta makes the city government have to prepare policies oriented to environmental aspects. "Because currently this aspect has not been maximally touched," explained the Deputy Mayor of Yogyakarta.

Heroe also hopes that in the future more and more electric vehicles can be found in Yogyakarta. This hope is so that the air in the City of Gudeg is cleaner due to reduced pollution. On the other hand, Gelis Chief Marketing Officer Ary Tjahyono hopes that the vehicle he made can be the choice of MSME players. "MSME players in Gudeg City can come and see Gelis directly at our dealers," said Ary Tjahyono during the launch of Gelis at HOM Hotel Yogyakarta.

For your information, this electric vehicle comes in several options and one of them is the Gelis 300. Gelis 300 carries an 800 Watt electric motor with a 48v-26AH VRLA type battery with rear-wheel drive. With a total weight of 600 kg, the Gelis 300 is able to devour an average mileage of 30 km per battery charge.

Thanks to the combination of leaf-style rear and telescopic front suspensions, the vehicle is capable of lifting up to 300 kg.

This version is available in four variants, namely Gelis Light Metal, Gelis Retro, and Gelis Cargo.

"In addition to the Gelis 300, PT SPI-which produces Gelis-also offers the Gelis 200 and Gelis 150," added SPI's Chief Marketing Officer. According to him, Gelis 200 is suitable to function as a special vehicle for fast delivery of goods in the city. Meanwhile, the Gelis 150 is more suitable for supporting the movement of goods in malls, hospitals, or factories.
