The rumors circulating since the MotoGP series in Assen, Netherlands, regarding Maverick Vinales who will leave the Yamaha Energy team are finally clear. Maverick Vinales has confirmed that he will part ways with Yamaha Energy at the end of the 2021 season. However, until now, it is not clear which team will be the home of this Spanish racer.
Vinales joined Yamaha in 2017 to replace Jorge Lorenzo. So far, he has won nine Grand Prix during his time with the Monster Energy Yamaha Team. Currently, Vinales is ranked sixth in the standings with 95 points. He is 61 points adrift of Fabio Quartararo at the top.
After deciding to leave Yamaha, Vinales did not reveal which team he would strengthen in the 2022 MotoGP. Reportedly, Vinales will strengthen Aprilia, if this becomes a reality, he will rejoin his friend and former teammate at Suzuki, Aleix Espargaro.
In addition to these rumors, Vinales is reportedly likely to join Valentino Rossi's VR46 team. If he joins the VR46 Team, he will become Luca Marini's partner.
Previously, VR46 last week officially collaborated with sponsor Aramco from Saudi Arabia to compete in MotoGP next year. Valentino Rossi's team will use a Ducati motorcycle.
In terms of MotoGP rider vacancies, there will be one seat in the factory Yamaha team available for Quartararo's future partner in 2022. Several young riders are also sure to show off for the potential vacant seat at Petronas Yamaha SRT currently occupied by Valentino Rossi.
