The first mass production of the Honda WR-V finally officially began on Thursday (1/12/2022), conducted locally at PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) Karawang plant, West Java.
This is certainly a breath of fresh air for consumers who have already made reservations, starting from its global launch on November 2, 2022.
With the start of the WR-V's first production run, it also marks the start of deliveries of the small sport utility vehicle (SUV) to authorized Honda dealers across Indonesia.
This was emphasized by HPM's Business Innovation and Sales & Marketing Director, Yusak Billy, coinciding with the delivery process of the Honda WR-V to consumers taking place in December 2022.
However, the number prepared for this first batch of deliveries is only 1,700 units, as announced by HPM at the launch.
"This month (December) we plan to send it to consumers, around 1,700 units with frame number 2022," Billy was quoted as saying. GridOto.com, Monday (5/12/2022).
The launch of the Honda WR-V is also said by Billy to have received a positive response from the Indonesian public, as evidenced by the booking figures of more than 1,500 units achieved in less than one month of launch.
The highest type of Honda WR-V is the most ordered, with its contribution above 50 percent or more than half of the total Vehicle Order Letters (SPK) received.
"SPKs until the end of November 2022 have been 1,539 units. The highest type is WR-V RS with Honda Sensing with a contribution of 51 percent, then RS 45 percent and E four percent," Billy concluded.
The Honda WR-V also adds to HPM's list of models produced locally in Indonesia, alongside models such as the Brio, All New HR-V, All New BR-V, City Hatchback RS, CR-V, and Mobilio.
The Japanese automaker claims that the production of the Honda WR-V is carried out by applying high-quality production standards, as well as various latest technologies adopted from the production of previous flagship models.
Speaking of brief specifications, the Honda WR-V is equipped with an engine coded L15ZF with a capacity of 1,500 cc i-VTEC DOHC 4-cylinder inline similar to the BR-V.
Power output is 120 horsepower at 6,600 rpm, and peak torque is 145 Nm at 4,300 rpm.
The Honda WR-V dimensions (P x L x T) are 4,060 mm x 1,780 mm x 1,608 mm with a ground clearance of 220 mm.
The Honda WR-V is marketed in three variants, namely the E CVT type with a price tag of Rp 271.9 million, RS CVT priced at Rp 289.9 million, and CVT type with Honda SENSING Rp 309.9 million on the road (OTR) DKI Jakarta. With these prices, Honda's latest Small SUV is ready to compete with Toyota Raize, Daihatsu Rocky, Nissan Magnite and KIA Sonet, which are already present in Indonesia.
