Welcoming the 2022 Indonesian MotoGP at the Mandalika Circuit, let's look at the progress of one of the participating teams, Aprilia Racing, the manufacturer that once brought Valentino Rossi to become world champion.
You should know that Aprilia Racing started the 2022 MotoGP racing season quite promisingly, succeeding in finish in 4th place thanks to Aleix Espargaro in the opening match at the Losail Circuit, Qatar (6/3/2022).
Rarely realized, Aprilia Racing on the world racing stage actually has a glorious history that is trying to be reclaimed this year.
Aprilia Racing entered the world motorcycle racing championship in the 1980s by racing in the 125 cc and 250 cc classes.
Riders like Loris Reggiani and Alessandro Gramigni helped start a successful path in racing for Aprilia.
In the 125 and 250 cc classes, Aprilia Racing has brought several riders to become world champions and top riders in the most prestigious classes.
One of them is Valentino Rossi who became world champion in the 125 cc class in 1997, and world champion in the 250 cc class in 1999 using a motorcycle made by Aprilia Racing.
In the mid-90s, Aprilia decided to take a big leap by entering the 500 cc category of racing which was previously dominated by Japanese manufacturers.
The challenge was not easy in the early years (1996 to 2000), but the Aprilia team worked hard to make dynamic progress and succeeded in boosting the performance of world-class riders such as Loris Reggiani, Tetsuya Harada, and Jeremy McWilliams on the world's prestigious tracks.
Likewise, when the MotoGP technical regulations changed with the switch from the 500 cc 2-stroke engine category to the 990 cc 4-stroke, the Aprilia Racing team was eager to challenge the Japanese giants by launching a lightweight 3-cylinder prototype, the RS Cube.
Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the talented riders appointed, the desired results did not quite meet expectations and the Aprilia Racing team dropped out of MotoGP racing at the end of the 2004 season.
After a long hiatus, the Aprilia Racing team returned to racing on the MotoGP track in 2015, supported by the Piaggio Group as the parent that has housed the manufacturer since 2004.
When returning to MotoGP the Aprilia Racing team collaborated with Gresini Racing until 2021.
After scoring several wins in its last two seasons with Gresini Racing, the Aprilia Racing team finally decided to go full-fledged as a factory team.
Aprilia Racing officially became a Factory Team in MotoGP on the thirtieth anniversary of Aprilia's first GP Motor Racing world championship, won with Alex Gramigni.
In 2022, Aprilia Racing trusts the Aprilia RS-GP 2022 motorcycle which is the mainstay of the duo Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales, and livery new RS-GP 2022.

It is hoped that in the 2022 Indonesian MotoGP race, the two Aprilia Racing team riders can provide the best results to repeat their success in the past.
