In recent days, the weather in several major cities in Indonesia has not been good. In fact, extreme weather is predicted to occur in most parts of Indonesia on Wednesday (28/12/2022), until Monday (2/1/2023).
Based on information from the Head of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Dwikorita Karnawati, there are findings of one additional phenomenon that drives the increase in the occurrence of extreme weather.
"Today, December 27, we evaluate that the forecast is consistent or in accordance with existing events. In fact, since yesterday we have detected the addition of one more new phenomenon that can affect Indonesia's weather dynamics," Dwikorita said in a BMKG press conference, quoted by Tribunnews, Tuesday (27/12/2022).
Reflecting on these predictions, Sony Susmana as Training Director of Safety Defensive Consultant Indonesia (SDCI) said vehicle users need to be vigilant.
This is because extreme weather can cause danger to road users.
"Extreme weather will indeed hamper the journey. Novice riders whose abilities are still limited need to be extra vigilant," Sony said as quoted from GridOto.com, Tuesday (27/12/2022).
He explained that this potential danger is caused by the relatively limited visibility of motorists during storms or high-intensity rain.
In addition, Sony said there is another cause of danger, namely the behavior of road users in Indonesia who tend to still act wrongly.
"For example, there are many motorists who walk slowly with their lights on. hazard in all lanes, this is the wrong behavior and is actually dangerous," said Sony.
Other factors such as fallen trees, billboards, and other objects should also be considered by drivers.
"Strong winds from the side and the potential for flooding must also be considered," he said.
Therefore, Sony asks road users to be able to measure the safe limit in case of storms or extreme weather.
"Do not drive if you are not sure, or if you are stuck on the highway immediately find a safe place to stop," he explained.
"For two-wheeled vehicles, immediately stop in a safe place to take shelter, because extreme weather can change and endanger yourself," he concluded.
