Recently, the Budi Luhur University (UBL) team's electric motorcycle, named Sport Electric Vehicle 01 (BL-SEV01), underwent a long-distance cross-island test ride.
The cool thing is, the distance traveled by BL-SEV01 reached 1,340 km with a route from Jakarta to Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara. With this test, BL-SEV01 also broke the record for the first electric motorcycle made by the nation's children that can be invited to explore as far as 1,340 km. Head of the Budi Luhur University Electric Motor Vehicle Study Center, Sujono, said that the Jakarta-Mandalika touring had become one of the learning processes for lecturers and students, especially at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.
"This long-distance testing is needed by BL-SEV01 to determine the durability of the battery and its performance," explained Sujono on Sunday (03/10/2021).
During the trip, the team from Budi Luhur University also collected technical data related to the BL-SEV01, such as its resilience through the diverse contours of Indonesian roads.
As for the specifications, the BL-SEV01 is equipped with a 96 Volt BLDC electric motor with a maximum power of 21 dk on the Jakarta-Mandalika touring.
This electric motor is then combined with a 48 Ah battery and a 96 Volt 200 Ampere controller.
Based on the official records of the Budi Luhur University team, with these specifications the BL-SEV01 is claimed to be able to travel 140 km on a full charge.
"Team touring BL-SEV01 Jakarta-Mandalika carries 3 sets of batteries, each capable of traveling 100-140 Km. In order to simplify travel and save time, the team implemented the swap battery," continued Sujono.
Sujono added that BL-SEV01 can travel approximately 300 km in one day.
The trips are only made during the day, considering that the night is used for battery charging and resting.
Regarding the route selection, this is in support of the Budi Luhur University electric vehicle study team regarding the existence of the Mandalika Circuit which is hosting the 2021 WorldSBK Indonesia event.
In addition, the existence of the Mandalika Circuit is also in line with the concept of the BL-SEV01, which carries a sportbike model and is suitable for riding on a circuit track.
"The BL-SEV01 has been tested at the Sentul International Circuit, Bogor, West Java with a top speed of 140 Km/h on a straight track," said Sujono.
Separately, the Chairman of the Budi Luhur Education Foundation (BPH), Cakti Kasih Hanggoro, said he was grateful and thanked the team that had been involved in the Jakarta-Mandalika touring trial.
"I hope the BL-SEV01 Jakarta-Mandalika touring can inspire the Indonesian people, especially for lecturers and students that we are able to make electric vehicles," he concluded.
