Throughout the holy month of Ramadan, many automotive communities and clubs will usually hold sahur on the road (SOTR).
As quoted from GridOto.com, Polda Metro Jaya has banned convoy activities under the guise of sahur on the road (SOTR) during Ramadan.
Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Fadil Imran views the activity as having more negative impacts.
"I have issued an edict that SOTR has many negatives. I ask that it be stopped," said Inspector General Fadil.
In addition to convoy activities, Fadil also prohibits residents from setting off firecrackers because they can disrupt Ramadan worship activities.
He also urged nightspots to abide by their operating hours during Ramadan.
The Polda will cooperate with the DKI Regional Government so that everything can run smoothly and well.
Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, said that the prohibition of convoying is regulated in the Metro Jaya Police Chief's edict.
In the edict numbered Mak/01/III/2023 dated March 15, 2023, sanctions for the implementation of the convoy ban are also mentioned.
"Referring to Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation (LLAJ)," said Kombes Trunoyudo.
According to him, Polda Metro Jaya will secure the negative activities.
Trunoyudo further explained that the edict prohibits a number of activities that have the potential to disrupt the Ramadan worship.
These range from setting off fireworks, wild racing to allegorical convoys.
"Allegorical is a convoy that involves streets in public places, the public, which can then disrupt traffic order and safety," he concluded.
