After experiencing two unsatisfactory series, Fabio Quartararo finally got a little relief by getting on the third podium at the 2023 American MotoGP on Sunday (16/4) yesterday.
Fabio Quartararo actually had a chance to win the second podium at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA), unfortunately it failed because Luca Marini drove very fast and consistently.
When traveling together on the straights, Quartararo's Yamaha YZR-M1 could only stand still without any resistance.
For this reason, El Diablo called the Ducati Desmosedici GP23 motorcycle like a space rocket.
"We had a lot of problems on this track. There are a lot of wheelies in some corners. We have to be better," Quartararo said as quoted from GridOto.com.
"All this is still hard to accept, especially if you suddenly see a space rocket next to you," explained the Monster Energy Yamaha team rider.
The entire Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team crew is also very happy, with the first podium achieved this season.
"I am very happy, especially for the team. It gives them more motivation," said the 2021 MotoGP world champion.
"I hope we will make progress again, soon. We had a stumble, but after this celebration we have a little satisfaction in the team," explained the 24-year-old rider.
The podium achievement brought the French-born racer up to seventh in the 2023 MotoGP standings.
Quartararo now has 34 points in the standings table, and the distance is also not so far from the riders above him.
The 2023 MotoGP Championship is still very wide open for riders whose birthday is on April 20, 2023.
The condition is that Yamaha must continue to improve the performance of its motorbike in the remaining 18 Grand Prix.
