LCR Honda Team rider Takaaki Nakagami is doubtful for the 2022 Thailand MotoGP.
Takaaki Nakagami will most likely not be able to perform as his finger injury worsens ahead of the 2022 Thailand MotoGP.
Takaaki Nakagami injured his right ring finger and pinky after a collision with Marc Marquez in the Aragon MotoGP.
The Japanese rider underwent surgery on his ring finger and right pinky.
Although not fully recovered, Nakagami seems to be determined to perform in his hometown, during the Japanese MotoGP event.
After the Japanese MotoGP race, Nakagami saw a doctor and it turned out that something was wrong with his finger recovery process.
"I went to the doctor after the race, who told me that my finger looked really bad," Nakagami was quoted as saying by OtoRace.id.
"I also want to race in Thailand, but my health comes first, we have to think about the future," he continued.
"We're not fighting for the championship, so there's no point in taking big risks," he explained.
Nakagami admitted that he was determined to perform because the race was held in Japan.
"I knew it would be risky, but riding on Saturday and Sunday actually made the conditions worse," he added.
"I'm disappointed with the result, but proud of myself," he added.
"I race because we are in Japan, otherwise I wouldn't do it," Nakagami concluded.
