Recently, two-wheeled vehicles with fake plates have been spotted in the tourist areas of the Island of the Gods.
The majority of motor vehicle users with fake police numbers in the Bali area are foreign nationals.
According to the Bali Motorcycle Rental Association (PRM), the phenomenon has a negative impact on rental entrepreneurs.
This is because PRM Bali, which rents out vehicles, has never falsified or modified license plates.
PRM Bali Deputy I Gede Mahatma Jaya regretted that foreigners were found violating the law in Bali.
"I myself really regret foreigners who do not obey the laws of this country," Mahatma was quoted as saying. Tribun-Bali.com.
Mahatma argues that motorcycle dealers now easily issue vehicles to foreigners.
"Now it is very easy for foreigners who do not have a residence permit or kitas to buy a motorcycle, it should not be allowed unless they have a kitas or identity in Indonesia," he said.
He admitted that the rise of Caucasians carrying vehicles in Bali was also inseparable from illegal rental businesses owned by foreigners.
In fact, they also often rent out vehicles to Bule who cannot ride a motorcycle.
"There are many foreigners who have rental businesses, whether local people are also used or what," he added.
After many foreigners were found driving vehicles with changed license plates, PRM Bali began investigating the leased vehicles.
Previously, PRM had educated foreigners who rented vehicles to obey traffic rules in Indonesia.
"We have agreed. If foreigners are found changing motorcycle plates, a fine will be imposed," he said.
To anticipate a similar incident, PRM has coordinated with the Badung Police Traffic Unit.
He hopes that all rentals can continue to educate with the use of helmets and orderly traffic.
"The point is that we want the relevant authorities to take firm action against foreigners who do whatever they want, because it endangers other road users," he concluded.
