Best Time to Fill Motorcycle Tires

Have you ever heard a tip related to filling up motorcycle tires that reads, “It's best not to fill up motorcycle tires during the day,”? Actually, there is a very logical reason why filling up motorcycle tires is recommended at night, here's the explanation.

Motorcycle tire pressure must be checked regularly by the owner and should not be less than the recommended pressure.

When it comes to filling up motorcycle tires, many people recommend that it should be done at night.

It turns out that there is an explanation that filling motorcycle tires is recommended at night.

As quoted from GridOto.com, Dodiyanto, Senior Brand Executive & Product Development of PT Gajah Tunggal Tbk, as the manufacturer of IRC brand motorcycle tires, said that it is better to fill the tires at night.

“Because at night with cold temperatures it is more suitable for filling and measuring tire pressure,” said Dodiyanto.

“Actually, it doesn't have to be at night, but we must wait for cold tire conditions to measure and fill the motorcycle tires,” he added.

“If the tire is hot, the air pressure inside the tire will rise,” he said again.

The effect will be expansion, making the tire pressure reading less accurate.

“So if we fill the tire when the tire is hot, it has the potential for the tire to be deflated when the temperature is normal. Because when the tire returns to normal temperature, the tire pressure generally drops quite far,” he said.

“Meanwhile, if you check and fill the motorcycle tires when they are cold, there is no expansion so that it can be more precise,” explained Dodiyanto.

“The most important thing is that you must regularly check the condition of the tires, not to be less or excessive when driving,” he concluded.

Now you know why it's recommended to fill your tires at night.
