With his new ride, the Ducati Desmosedici GP23, Pecco Bagnaia did manage to appear very dominant at the Portimao MotoGP test last weekend.
Unfortunately, Ducati cannot be too happy because the Desmosedici GP23 is said to not be 100 percent compatible with Enea Bastianini.
When Pecco Bagnaia could consistently be in the top position for two days, in fact during the test Enea Bastianini still struggled to break into the top five.
Even on the first day alone, Bestia was only able to sit in 17th place on the mode time attack.
"Saturday was a bit unlucky, there were two small problems and lost time, I spent 90 minutes in the pits. I made mistakes, the team too, and it wasn't a good day," the driver was quoted as saying. GridOto.com.
However, The Beast performed better when trying out the racing simulation, unfortunately it did not come in as impressive a size as its counterpart.
Until now, rider number 23 also still hasn't decided which aero package he will use at the start of MotoGP 2023.
"We made some changes and feeling-I'm a bit better. I can press, but we haven't tried anything special," he continues.
"I'm still trying to understand the 2023 bike. The difference is actually not that much, but the power is different," said the Italian rider.
For the time being, Bagnaia's neat racing style suits the Ducati bike better.
In addition to changing the bike, Bastianini also had to undergo more adaptation in order to keep up with his teammates.
"I think we still haven't found some things to be able to fight for victory, but we are not too far away," he continued.
"I can still smile, we have found a little direction, the approach is different and we could have fought for the podium. There are still a few steps before reaching victory. Pecco has something more, he will be the target on Saturday and Sunday," he concluded.
