Bastianini definitely competes, Marquez delays action at Spanish GP

There is good news from the Ducati Lenovo team, Enea Bastianini is confirmed to return to racing in the 2023 Spanish MotoGP. Meanwhile, Marc Marquez has still decided to postpone his comeback-her.

Both Enea Bastianini and Marc Marquez were sidelined with injuries from crashes in the first round of the 2023 MotoGP in Portugal at the end of March.

After a recovery that took approximately one month, Enea Bastianini was declared recovered enough to participate in the 2023 Spanish MotoGP held this weekend (28-30/4).

"I am very happy to be back with the team because we have only had a few opportunities to work together this year," Bastianini said in the official broadcast of Lenovo Ducati Team, Friday (28/4/2023), as quoted by the Lenovo Ducati Team. GridOto.com.

"Watching others race while I've been at home these past few weeks hasn't been easy," he jokes.

If La Bestia will be back riding his Ducati Desmosedici GP23 in the 2023 Spanish MotoGP, Marc Marquez has chosen to wait.

The unfinished recovery process of his hand bone has discouraged Marc Marquez from riding in front of his fans.

"I am very sorry to have to miss the 2023 Spanish MotoGP because this race always feels special," Marc said in Repsol Honda's official broadcast, Friday (28/4/2023).

"The atmosphere, racing at home, and of course seeing and enjoying the passion of the fans, that's all that makes this race special," he added.

To replace Marc, who still has to be absent, Repsol Honda also fielded Iker Lecuona in this race at the Jerez circuit.

Iker Lecuona himself had tasted MotoGP with KTM in the Tech3 team, although he was only retained for two seasons before moving to WorldSBK with Honda in 2022.

It will be interesting to see the performance of Enea Bastianini and Iker Lecuona in the 2023 Spanish MotoGP.

Because Bastianini bluntly sees this racing weekend as a test to see how physically ready he is for the next races.

While Iker Lecuona is determined to give his best for the Repsol Honda squad, although he admits that he must be realistic and not set grandiose targets.

"The 2023 Spanish MotoGP will be a very draining weekend because I have to learn to get used to the Honda RC213V which is completely new to me," said Lecuona on the same occasion.

"Whatever happens, I will try my best and see what the results will be," he concluded.
