Ahead of the 2023 American MotoGP event this weekend, Alex Rins opened up about some of the problems he has experienced in the LCR Honda team garage.
Alex Rins really let his hair down, daring to call himself "wasted" at Honda despite having just joined.
The former Suzuki rider feels that his abilities are not taken into account at all, his voice is not heard by Honda officials.
The main problem was about the distribution of motorcycle components, because the father of one felt that he did not get the best components.
Due to injuries to Marc Marquez and Joan Mir, it was fortunate that the 27-year-old rider ended up being loaned the best part of the bike from Honda in Argentina.
But still, Rins feels unnoticed and not considered important in the LCR Honda team.
In fact, the number 42 rider dared to say that the Japanese people made it difficult for him.
"During the last race in Argentina, I understood that HRC was not counting on me. The Japanese people are very rigid and at the moment my hands are tied," Rins was quoted as saying. GridOto.com.
For Rins, Honda pays too much attention to the hierarchy between the main and satellite teams, even though this is no longer a trend in MotoGP.
It was as if only the Repsol Honda team riders, specifically Marc Marquez, were being noticed.
"When I arrived here (in America), they told me Honda was strong here. I answered that actually Marc is the only one who is strong here with Honda. But then of course I hope to perform well too and that's what I did," said the rider.
"I try to learn, look at the data. I also want to look at my Suzuki data here in the last few years, but of course that is not possible," he explains.
Rins has high hopes of performing well at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) this weekend, Friday to Sunday (14-16/4/2023).
Interestingly, he was the first rider to break Marquez's winning streak at COTA in 2019.
"At the moment, I don't think I can compare myself to Pol Espargaro or Alex Marquez, but I think I'm working well and I can improve in the future," he continued.
Takaaki Nakagami's teammate is also hoping that he can perform well this weekend and get more support from Honda.
