It has just been announced that the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) will implement a cashless and contactless toll transaction system based on Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF). Referring to the upload of the official Instagram account @kemenpupr, Monday (11/22/2021), the MLFF system is targeted to be implemented by the end of 2022. Confirming this information, Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) Danang Parikesit explained that the MLFF system will be implemented in December 2022 in some areas.
"Toll roads in Metropolitan Jabodetabek are one of them. While other alternatives are on the Trans-Java Toll Road," Danang said, quoted by Kompas.com, Monday. He also said that the decision to implement Phase 1 of a total of 40 toll road sections that will adopt the MLFF system will be revealed in March 2022.
For information, the MLFF system is an innovative contactless cashless payment system that applies Global Navigation Satellite Sytem (GNSS) technology to a special toll road application on the user's cellphone.
Later, the GPS will determine the satellite-determined location and the map-matching process with the GPS map will run in the central system. When the car exits the toll road and the matching process ends, the system will calculate the tariff calculation. With this system, it is expected that toll users do not need to stop at the toll gate to make payments. Travel time can be shorter and queues at toll gates can be reduced.
