The East Java Traffic Police has received 200,000 pairs of white base plates.
It is possible that the number will be added as the acceleration efforts of the Korlantas Polri develop.
The reason is that the white plates allotted to the East Java Police Traffic Directorate are the initial stage of efforts to socialize changes in regulations.
As quoted from SuryaMalang.comThis was explained by the Director of Dirlantas Polda Jatim, Kombes Pol Muhammad Taslim Chairuddin.
"The change in plate color facilitates the enforcement mechanism for disciplined driving on the road," said Muhammad Taslim Chairuddin.
Especially now that the authorities have implemented electronic tickets or ETLE and INCAR.
"ETLE cameras are statically less optimal when recording photos of black base license plates," explained Taslim.
Moreover, the technology used by the ETLE camera is Automatic Number Rate Recognition.
It is a software mechanism that matches the appearance of the writing data on the license plate.
"The mechanism is oriented to absorb dark displays, so the ETLE camera is less than optimal," he continued.
According to him, plates with a white base color can minimize errors compared to black base plates.
Regarding the change in the color of the base plate, the former Head of Sub-Directorate of STNK Ditregident Korlantas Polri emphasized that the public does not need to worry.
The color transition of the base plate will occur naturally, adjusting to the five-year TNKB or STNK validity period.
People who still use license plates with a black base color are also still allowed.
He ensures that old color plates are not categorized as a violation of the law in traffic.
If there are people who are stopped by officers for using black plates, they can immediately report it.
Taslim hopes that by 2027 the roads in East Java will be dominated by white license plate vehicles.
