The gang of truck spare tire thieves consists of five members, each with the initials IW (39), FS (41), DM (45), LP (28), and DS (19).
The five members of the truck spare tire thieves gang were caught when they were about to act in rest area KM 130 Cipali Toll Road, Gantar District, Indramayu, West Java.
AKBP M. Lukman Syarif, Indramayu Police Chief, accompanied by Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Fitran Romajimah, said that this gang has been in action since last year.
"They have stolen spare tires from trucks more than 150 times," he explained, as quoted by the media. Tribunjabar.id, Friday (07/15/2022).
According to Lukman, the five members of this truck spare tire thief gang often carry out their actions in a number of areas. rest area in Cipali Toll Road and Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road.
Based on the information obtained, the gang had carried out the action in rest area KM 130 Cipali toll road 10 times.
While other actions were carried out at rest area in the regions of Karawang, Subang, Cirebon and others.
In their actions, this gang of truck spare tire thieves targets trucks parked in rest areas where the driver or kernet is left behind.
Worse still, in just one night, the thieves were able to steal two to three spare tires from the truck.
"The perpetrators usually operate four to five days a week in rest area along the toll road, the worst thing is that they also do not hesitate to injure their victims," Lukman added.
Lukman said that the police are still hunting for a collector of spare tires stolen by this gang of thieves.
Regarding the results of the theft, the perpetrator can get Rp 900 thousand to Rp 1.3 million per tire depending on the condition.
"For their actions, they are charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code and face a maximum sentence of seven years in prison," he concluded.
